Ph.D in Political Science will be awarded to those candidates who have successfully completed the prescribed course of study and submit a thesis on the basis of original and independent research in a particular discipline/inter-disciplinary area that makes a contribution to the advancement of knowledge. Every candidate who has been admitted into the Ph.D program shall undergo a coursework in the first semester. The program includes written examination for the course work. A candidate needs to secure a minimum CGPA of 5.5 on a 10 point scale to proceed with the research work.
Eligibility
The candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Political Science from any institution recognized by the University Grants Commission. All candidates must pass with a minimum of 55% marks in Master’s degree or equivalent (for SC/ST/ differently abled candidates: the minimum eligibility is 50%)
The selection of the candidates will be on the basis of the entrance test and interview. Applicants must submit, along with the application, a brief description of their proposed topic of research. Preference will be given to the candidates who have qualified UGC-NET/JRF/M.Phill and those with teaching experience in higher education; subject to fulfilling the entrance test eligibility criteria as determined by the respective Department. All regulation for the Ph.D courses are laid as per the UGC Regulation Act, 2022.
Duration
Ph.D program consists of a minimum duration of 6 consecutive semesters (3 years) and a maximum of 12 consecutive semesters (6 years)

The Admission Modalities are with reference to the campus-based Ph.D. Programs offered by the ICFAI University at Nagaland. The medium of instruction is English.
General rule
For the purpose of determining eligibility based on aggregate percentage of marks, the procedure used by the respective University in award of the degree will only be taken into consideration. All UG/PG/PhD applicants should have completed a minimum of 12/15/17 years of formal education by August 1 2024, respectively. Applicants who have completed their graduation on a one-time sitting basis or a 2-year basis are not eligible for admission to the Postgraduate Programs
Students in their final year are eligible to apply, provided they complete their course requirements including practical examinations/ viva assignments before August 01, 2024. Such applicants will have to produce a certificate to that effect at the time of admission. The admission of such applicants will, however, remain provisional until they produce mark sheet/ transcript and a degree certificate establishing their eligibility.
The last date forsubmitting the proof of qualifying examination transcripts is September 30, 2024, failing which the provisional admission will automatically stand cancelled, and no fees will be refunded.
The process of admission and selection of eligible candidates
The selection of applicants into the Program is made through screening of application and interview. While evaluating students for admission, due weightage is given to their academic distinction, awards in Games & sports, Literary & cultural activities, and other extra co-curricular activities.
Original certificates and Domicile certificate should be produced for verification at the time of admission. The admission decision will be communicated after the admission process.
Special Reservation
There shall be a special provision for admission of students belonging to the State of Nagaland (Domicile) in any course of ICFAI University, Nagaland, which shall not be less than 25 (twenty-five) percent of seats in each course/discipline subject to the students meeting the minimum qualifying requirements referred to above. The fee for the Domicile students is less than that of the non-domicile students (please refer the fee chart).
Seats remaining unfilled under special reservation may be filled up by allotting the same to students belonging to Open Category.
*Payment of Admission Fee and Semester Fee will allow the allotment of enrollment numbers to each student. Students with enrollment numbers will be allowed to attend classes.
Admission Fee
Admission fee of Rs10,000 (non-refundable) is to be paid by all the selected candidates of PG immediately after the admission decision is announced. The last date for payment of admission fee is August 10, 2024 for MBA, MCA, M.Com, M.Lib.I.Sc and MA Program. Admission fee of Rs20,000 (non-refundable) is to be paid by all the selected candidates of Ph.D. immediately after the admission decision is announced.
The last date for payment of admission fee is August 23, 2024 for Ph.D. Program.
Semester Fee
Students must pay the Semester fee on the first day of each semester, after which a fine of ₹ 20 per day will be charged. The first semester fee is to be paid on or before August 10, 2024 for MBA, MCA, M.Com, MA & M.Lib.I.S Program. The firstsemester fee is to be paid on or before August 23, 2024 for Ph.D. Programs

All Payments should be made through Bank Challan from ICICI Chümoukedima Branch/Swiping machine from the University, in favor of “The ICFAI University, Nagaland – Fee Collection A/C”. Details about the payment modalities, and the relevant Challan, can be obtained from the Dy. Accounts Officer. Payments can also be made online through the university’s website at www.iunagaland.edu.in.
As per UGC guidelines if a student chooses to withdraw from the program of study in which he/she is enrolled, the institution concerned shall follow the following four-tiersystem for the refund of feesremitted by the student.

Bus facility is provided for easy connectivity of the students. Registered bus commuters are required to pay for the bus fees for a Semester regardless of whether one travel or not for which an undertaking shall be obtained.
University do not have hostel accommodation inside the campus. However University provides assistance to identity the suitable private hostel accommodation near University campus.
